A Greenacres woman is set for life after winning $20,000 a month for the next 20 years in the Set for Life lottery draw. The lucky South Australian was the sole winner nationally in Saturday’s draw 3355, securing a total of $4.8 million, paid monthly.
When she found out about her win from a call from an official from The Lott, the woman was in disbelief. “Thank you so much! I’m half asleep and it feels like I’m still dreaming,” she chuckled.
“I’ve been thinking, ‘Is it real, is it not?’ I’m glad it’s finally confirmed.”
The windfall comes with grand plans for the recipient, who intends to use the funds for her retirement and indulging in some personal treats.
“It’s going to help me so much,” she noted, adding that a river cruise in Amsterdam was definitely on her agenda. The win also means she can increase her donations to the three charities she supports.
The night before her life-altering win, she had humorously called on higher powers for a bit of luck.
“I was watching the Saturday X Lotto draw on TV that night and said, ‘Come on, lotto angels, I would love a win.’ None of my numbers came up and I didn’t even think to check my Set for Life ticket,” she revealed.
The following morning, an unusual email prompted her to check her ticket, though she initially suspected it might be a scam.
“But now that it’s confirmed I can’t believe it!” she added.
The lucky 5-game QuickPick ticket was purchased at Greenacres & Klemzig Newsagency, located in the Greenacres Shopping Centre. Newsagency owner, Mr Robert Li, shared the excitement of selling the division one winning ticket.
“We’re so excited and truly happy for our lucky customer!” he said.
“I’ll be displaying signs in the shop and sharing the great news with all of our customers.
“The last time we sold a division one winning ticket was in 2020. We hope to sell another one soon.
“We hope this monthly prize of $20,000 for the next 20 years is life-changing for our winner and we wish them all the best with it!”
This latest Set for Life win was the 141st division one win nationally since the game’s inception. The winner from South Australia marks the 16th such winner this year alone. The winning numbers for draw 3355 were 17, 13, 43, 25, 34, 38, and 33, with supplementary numbers 41 and 26.
