McLaren Vale’s Grenache & Gourmet Festival is returning to the region this spring, celebrating the fantastic Grenache being produced in the region. From September 19th to October 6th, coinciding with International Grenache Day and running through to the October Long Weekend, this comprehensive 18-day festival is perfect for those looking to switch up a classic wine tour or spring day out.

Now in its fourth instalment, this festival, supported by the South Australian Tourism Commission, is a platform that unites local winemakers, chefs, growers, and producers. Together, they create a varied calendar of over 28 events that are meant to showcase the very best of McLaren Vale’s food and wine.

There are some pretty exciting events on the calendar that are broken into three categories, Sip & Savour, Learn & Explore, and Relax & Unwind. Each category is tailored to offer unique experiences that highlight the versatility of Grenache. The Sip & Savour events focus on pairing the region’s acclaimed Grenache wines with specially curated food experiences. These range from chef-prepared long lunches to cellar door tastings with perfectly paired dishes.

The Learn & Explore segment of the festival allows attendees to connect with the viticulture of McLaren Vale through various interactive experiences. These include vineyard tours, wine blending workshops, and personal interactions with the winemakers and growers.

For those looking to enjoy wine in a more relaxed atmosphere, the Relax & Unwind category offers casual gatherings where good wine, food, and live music come together. Reflecting the laid-back coastal spirit of the region, these events are warm, welcoming, and ideal for enjoying the company of friends and family.

Among the standout events scheduled for 2025 are Bekkers’ The Ultimate Blind Tasting Challenge, McLaren Vale vs The World at the McLaren Vale Hotel, and The Yangarra High Sands Experience. Additionally, other highlights include The Winemaker, The Chef, and The Farmer: A Grenache Story at Juxtaposed Wines, A Brief History of Grenache at Samuel’s Gorge, and Wood, Fire, and Vines at Paxton Wines.
