In a celebration of fine wine and gourmet delights, the Grenache & Gourmet Festival is now underway.
Following its triumphant debut in 2022, the festival is offering an even more vibrant and enriching experience this year.
Set against the picturesque backdrop of McLaren Vale, a region renowned for its exquisite Grenache and Grenache-blends, the festival promises a journey of culinary and vinous discovery from 15th September to 2nd October 2023.
Launching on International Grenache Day, the festival spans two weeks, culminating in the festivities of the Labour Day Long Weekend.
The McLaren Vale Grape Wine & Tourism Association was thrilled to announce the return of this grand celebration, proudly supported by the South Australian Tourism Commission.
This year, the festival boasts an expansive program, featuring over 40 events that cater to both the seasoned connoisseur and the budding wine enthusiast. From high-end wine dinners to casual gatherings accompanied by music, the festival offers a rich tapestry of experiences that showcase the vibrant and versatile nature of the Grenache variety.
As noted wine critic James Halliday aptly puts it, Grenache is indeed “McLaren Vale’s secret weapon”.
McLaren Vale, with its rich history of Grenache cultivation, houses some of the oldest vines globally. The region’s unique geology and Mediterranean-like climate have fostered a haven for producers crafting modern, award-winning wines.
This festival serves as a testament to McLaren Vale’s growing reputation as a global leader in Grenache production, continually evolving and introducing new varieties and wine styles.
