As the festive season approaches, Hindmarsh Square, located next to the Griffins Hotel, is set to become the go-to destination for Friday night fun in Adelaide.
The Griffins Hotel, led by publicans Adam Vonthethoff and Jason Bird, is proud to present “City Garden” – a free public event that will run for the next four Fridays of the festive season to kick off your weekend in style.
Starting this Friday November 24th, Hindmarsh Square will be transformed into a hub of entertainment. The Griffins Hotel, run by two publicans with years of experience across multiple South Australian venues, is taking the lead in creating a space where CBD workers and residents can come together to relax, unwind, and enjoy the space.
One of the highlights of City Garden Fridays is the live music lineup, featuring exclusively South Australian artists. From acoustic sets to DJ performances, there’s something for every musical taste.
The talented lineup includes artists like Brad Lee, Sax Bates, Georgia Germein, Joe Amputch, and many more. With music running from 12 pm to 9 pm, you can groove to the sounds of local talent all evening long.
But the City Garden event isn’t just about music; it’s a celebration of South Australian culture. The event is made possible with the generous support of SA Brewing, Yalumba (Australia’s historic family-owned winery in the Barossa), and Canadian Club (a brand of Canadian whisky produced by Beam Suntory). With a whole heap of roving food options and bars throughout the square, making it its own little hub.
Jason Bird of The Griffins Hotel emphasised the significance of City Garden Fridays, saying, “it’s a chance to bring people together and put the fun back into Fridays. With the great weather and the beautiful space in front of us, not taking advantage of it would be a sin. It’s the perfect Friday knock-off scenario, where you can enjoy great food, drinks, and live music.”
City Garden Fridays also offers group reservations and reserved areas that can be organised through The Griffins. Whether you’re planning a corporate gathering, a Christmas event, or just a casual get-together with friends, they have you covered.
Pre-ordered catering and bar tabs can also be arranged for impromptu Christmas celebrations, making it an ideal choice for both corporate Adelaide and East End residents.
“It’s a great location, and we just want to put on a fun event for people to enjoy. We’ve had great support from the local council as well, so we’re excited to bring everyone down,” Jason says.
With live music, delicious South Australian food, and a variety of bars, it’s the ultimate Friday evening experience.
