Adelaide’s largest yoga and wellness studio flexes in CBD

BeWell Studio, Adelaide’s largest yoga and wellness space, has been quietly taking shape since late 2024.

When Cathy Gray took over One Degree Studio last November, it felt like a now or never moment.
A long-time teacher and student of the space, she saw the opportunity to finally turn the quiet dream of owning her own yoga studio into a reality.

“I remember walking home and just bursting into tears. I thought, if I don’t take this opportunity and go for it, I might never get the chance again,” she says.

That moment, as overwhelming as it was, marked the beginning of BeWell Studio, Adelaide’s largest yoga and wellness space.

“I already knew the team, knew the students. It just felt right,” explains Cathy.

In its new era, the studio continues to honour its Bikram roots while expanding its schedule to accommodate the whole community.

Inside the revamped space, you’ll find warm lighting, plants, fresh scents, and a line-up of classes that go beyond traditional yoga. BeWell’s weekly timetable includes the foundations – Bikram Yoga (60 or 90 minutes in a 40-degree room), Vinyasa, Yin, and Align Hot HIIT Pilates – as well as a Signature Series designed to cover every corner of the mind–body experience.

There’s BeStrong, a strength-based class using weights and dynamic movement, BeMindful, combining meditation, breathwork and sound bowls, BeFlexible, a mobility and deep stretch class, and SignatureMat, BeWell’s take on traditional, alignment-focused Pilates.

“We’ve created something for everyone,” Cathy says.

“Our oldest student is 75 doing poses some 30-year-olds can’t. We’ve got teens coming for Pilates, runners, cyclists, international students, and yes, plenty of men. It’s a real mix.”

Trained in traditional Bikram and immersed in yoga practice from the UK, India and even South Africa, BeWell’s instructors bring a wordly experience to their teaching. This diversity makes the studio a unique home for everyone, from beginners to more experienced yogis.

Cathy gets candid about how she found her space on the mat – it came during an “absolute sh*tstorm.”

“Life can be a lot,” she says.

“I’ve been through a shit storm of my own. Yoga helped keep me grounded through that. It made me move better, sleep better, hold the chaos of life better.”

That philosophy is weaved into every class, and whether you’re feeling a million dollars, or just need a lay down and a uninterrupted minute to chill out, BeWell is your safe space.

“We always say the safest place is your mat. You can lie down for the whole session if that’s what you need. I’ve seen people cry during class and that’s okay. You’re held here, wherever you’re at.”

BeWell’s instructors reflect that same approach. They’re experienced, grounded, and actively practising alongside their students. Long-time Adelaide yogi Amy Kreminski, who introduced Bikram Yoga to the city, still teaches at BeWell and offers yoga therapy as part of the team led by studio manager Candice.

“There’s no ego in the room,” Cathy explains.

“Some days we feel like rockstars, some days we don’t want to move. Either way, we meet people where they are. And that’s the BeWell difference.”

BeWell is about sweating and stretching, but it’s equally about finding your way back to yourself and exploring your inner and outer strength. With off-street parking, a central location, and over a dozen weekly classes, this yoga and wellness hub is the self care session worth adding to your schedule.
