The new workplace has spacious office suites, dedicated desks, high ceilings and the original walls; It brings a real creative flair to the leafy southeast corner of the Adelaide CBD. The historical building on Halifax Street, which was once home to the Slatters Shoes Factory, has been transformed into a modern space seeking to provide investment and funding opportunities for South Australian start-ups who want to operate on a global stage.

Founded by Albert and Toby Bensimon, the owner and the Managing Director of Shiels Jewellers, the Innovation Factory comes from the brains behind a successful SA retail brand. They hope to create a place for other like-minded business people to propel their own companies and to create a positive community of mentors, entrepreneurs, start-ups, business experts and private equity investors.

“After a long time of just meeting in coffee shops and more recently on Zoom as a collection of investors looking for new ideas, we’ve now decided to give ourselves a name, and a physical presence,” says Toby Bensimon.

“The Innovation Factory is a creative space that can be an incubator and a launchpad for good ideas. The space is already half-full, and we’re now looking for registrations of interest in remaining spots.”
