Fans of all things medieval will be thrilled to know that the popular Gumeracha Medieval Fair will be taking place this weekend.
Over Saturday May 8 and Sunday May 9, Federation Park in Gumeracha will be filled with medieval wonders perfect for the entire family.
The two day event is always a big hit, with this year’s festivities expected to be bigger than ever. There are already almost 6,000 people who have responded to the Facebook event!
There will be a plethora of exciting activities and demonstrations. Knights will deck themselves in their armour and enter the combat arena, as well as delightful bow and arrow displays.
The Viking encampments will again be huge this year with re-enactors coming from Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne to show their talents such as their craftwork skills and techniques of campfire cooking for the patrons as well as their fighting skills in the arena.
In attendance will be the strongest man in Australia, Joran Steffans, who will put on an awe-inspiring performance. There will also be Ukrainian Cossacks demonstrating their lively dances and fighting skills.
That’s just a taste of what will be on offer at this year’s Gumeracha Medieval Fair, with plenty more activities and live music happening on the day as well.
Foods and beverages derived in the local Torrens Valley area, Wendy and David Cook of the Birdwood Wine & Cheese Centre will be there in the Tavern together with the famous “Mien Hosts” from the Lobethal Bierhaus serving their award-winning beers and the Thistle Meadery who have a large range of flavours of their award winning Mead for you to try!
Tickets range from $10 to $75, depending on the package, with kids under the age of 5 able to enter for free.
