Hahndorf is playing host to a month-long festival this September, featuring more than 250 intimate events and experiences focusing on everything from food and wine to jam tasting, flower arranging, and cycling.

The festival, named Hahndorf. Handmade. Handcrafted. Handpicked, was the brainchild of the Hahndorf Business & Tourism Association, and intends to re-introduce South Australians to the treasures of Hahndorf, which is only a 15 minute drive from the start of the freeway.

“This festival provides a platform for locals to showcase their passion and dedication to their craft – whether that be making wine, jam or food, to creating art or simply igniting your curiosity to try something new,” says Mikyla Gilbert, Marketing Manager of Hahndorf.

“We wanted an event that invites the community back together, in a safe, but seriously fun and connected way. This is why all events are small and intimate.”

The program is filled with bespoke experiences for all ages and tastes.

Highlights include making your own personalised dog collar, learning to make the paella, reviving retro garments, decorating gingerbread people, wine master classes, culinary workshops and events, taste-testing Barenberg jams in development, flower arranging, cocktail making, and numerous historical and artistic workshops and talks.

“We hope people get involved and book tickets to the many events on offer, or simply soak up the atmosphere with a leisurely walk up the Main Street,” says Co-chair of the Association, Jason Duffield.

“Hahndorf has evolved into a true artisan village and I think many South Aussies may not be aware of the sheer depth and range of the talent and produce associated with our region. We are really excited to showcase what we can do, and look forward to welcoming the people of SA to our community.”

The event starts on Tuesday 1 September and will run for the entire month of September.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, most of the event line up is ticketed, irrelevant if the event is free or has a cost. To see the full event line up and book tickets visit www.hahndorfhands.com.au
