Ultimate Ramen Champion Hakata Gensuke to open pop-up in Adelaide for 6 days only!

It feels like everyone I talk to lately has either just come back from Japan, is planning a trip, or is daydreaming about one. I actually spent a few weeks there myself, and after eating my way through bowl after bowl of authentic Tonkotsu ramen, I’ve been on a mission to find something that comes even close here in Adelaide.

Lucky for us ramen lovers, Hakata Gensuke is about to make that search a whole lot easier with an exclusive pop-up on Waymouth Street from 25-30 March. It’s only running for six days, so if you’re serious about good food, you’ll want to mark this one on your calendar.

If you haven’t heard of Hakata Gensuke before, let me fill you in – this isn’t just any ramen spot, it’s the real deal. Founded by Ultimate Ramen Champion Kousuke Yoshimura, they’ve perfected the art of Tonkotsu (Pork Bone Base) ramen and built a cult following across the globe. The broth is rich and full of flavour, the noodles are perfect, and their bowls have famously turned casual ramen eaters into full-blown addicts.

Hakata, a buzzing central district in Fukuoka, Japan, is where Tonkotsu ramen was born, and now Hakata Gensuke is dedicated to sharing its signature ramen with the world – Adelaide being the next lucky stop.

Kousuke Yoshimura has spent his life perfecting ramen, growing up in a family of ramen and sushi chefs before opening his first restaurant in 2008. Now, with restaurants in Japan, Singapore, and across Australia (NSW, VIC, and WA), Hakata Gensuke continues to lead the ramen scene with its top-quality ingredients and expert technique.

If you need more convincing, Yoshimura isn’t just any ramen chef, he’s won the title of Ultimate Ramen Champion not once, but twice, in 2011 and 2012. And just to prove how in-demand their ramen is, their Bugis, Singapore, location sold over 100,000 bowls in a single year!

To make sure this Adelaide pop-up is nothing short of perfection, Yoshimura is bringing in an expert team straight from Japan, including seasoned sous chefs Shota Okayama and Takumi Yoshinaga. They’ll be running the show, making sure every bowl is crafted to Hakata Gensuke’s ridiculously high standards and will deliver an authentic experience.

Whether you’re already obsessed with ramen or just love great food, this pop-up is an absolute must. It’s here for six days only, so don’t miss your chance to slurp up some of the best ramen outside of Japan.

I’ll be one of the first in line!
