Halliday Wine Companion announces Australia’s Top 100 wineries with two SA gems in the Top 10

The Halliday Wine Companion has announced its Top 100 Wineries in Australia for 2024, and two SA wineries have made it into the Top 10.

The Halliday Wine Companion has announced its Top 100 Wineries for 2024, proudly presented by Sense of Taste. This prestigious list highlights the best wineries in Australia, showcasing their complete range of wines and celebrating their contributions to the country’s wine culture. Two South Australian wineries have made it into the Top 10: Yangarra Estate Vineyard in McLaren Vale and Grosset in Clare Valley.

Last year, Yangarra Estate Vineyard opened a state-of-the-art cellar door, taking its status as a premier wine destination to the next level. This luxurious space features floor-to-ceiling windows offering stunning views of the vineyards, along with a unique viewing platform where guests can see their ceramic amphorae fermentation vessels. A special private tasting room is dedicated to the wines of Hickinbotham Clarendon Vineyards, providing an exclusive experience that allows visitors to learn more about the geology and production methods of the estate.

While Grosset Wines’ cellar door, set in a charming old stone building that once churned butter, is open from late August to mid-November 2024. The tasting experience here is all about Riesling and features both current and museum wines. Guests can enjoy an audio-visual presentation about the winery’s A-Grade Certified Organic and Biodynamic practices. Recently, Grosset was recognised in multi-award-winning wine writer Tyson Stelzer’s list of Top 250 Australian Wines of 2024, earning the title of White Wine of the Year for their Grosset Polish Hill Riesling 2024, which was also named Riesling of the Year.
