Harry Potter stage parody is apparating to Adelaide

The blissfully funny Harry Potter parody, Potted Potter, is coming to Adelaide for three nights only this March, after the 2021 tour was postponed.

2021 marked the 15th Anniversary of the international smash hit Harry Potter parody, Potted Potter, and in celebration of this milestone, Australia was meant to score a global exclusive with a five-city tour including Adelaide on the list. As happens these days however, dreaded Covid lockdowns prevented the tour – however we’re back with AMAZING news. The tour is back on!

The show’s producer James Seabright is delighted to announce that its creators Daniel Clarkson and Jeff Turner, will be coming to Australia to perform in the rescheduled shows, alongside seasoned performers and fellow Brits Scott Hoatson and Joseph Maudsley. With two casts in Australia for the new tour dates, these wizards are ready for
anything!

The 2022 season opens in Brisbane on 1 March then travels to the Sunshine Coast, onto Adelaide, a return season in Sydney, then to Newcastle and finishes in Perth on 24 April.

The blissfully funny romp through J.K. Rowling’s back catalogue live in performance will hit the SA’s Dunstan Playhouse on Friday 25 – Sunday 27 March.

Potted Potter has been performed hilariously “across the ditch” by two New Zealand actors Adam Brown and Tama Jarman who will bring the brilliant Centrepoint Theatre production to Oz following an acclaimed premiere last year.

Directed by the show’s co-creator Daniel Clarkson, the show has been widely praised including by the NZ Herald for its “terrific, fun, slick performances”.

Potted Potter – the unauthorized Harry experience – a parody by Dan and Jeff takes on the ultimate challenge of condensing all seven Harry Potter books (and a real-life game of Quidditch) into seventy hilarious minutes.

Even if you don’t know the difference between a horcrux and a Hufflepuff (but come on, you do) this fantastically funny show that features all your favourite characters, a special appearance from a fire-breathing dragon, endless costumes, brilliant songs, ridiculous props and a generous helping of Hogwarts magic will make you roar with laughter.

Producer James Seabright said Potted Potter premiered 15 years ago at the Edinburgh Fringe, the world’s largest arts festival.

“Since then, the show has gone on to play multiple West End seasons in London, two off-Broadway engagements in New York, one amazing Las Vegas residency, and extensive touring,” he says.

“In normal circumstances we’d be bringing the show to every corner of the globe this year to celebrate the anniversary, but COVID restrictions elsewhere mean that Australia has a world exclusive with this five-city tour.

“The show’s creators Daniel Clarkson and Jeff Turner have worked carefully to adapt the production to be COVID safe, which will also mean that repeat visitors to the show will enjoy some exclusive new material.”

This Best Entertainment, Family Olivier Award Nominee and double Best Of Las Vegas 2019 award-winning show is perfect for ages six to Dumbledore (who is very old indeed).
