It’s A Hat Trick! This Gawler Café Wins Award 3 Years In A Row

One of Gawler’s favourite cafés have smashed it for a third time at the Savour Australia Restaurant & Catering Awards.

One of Gawler’s favourite little gems, Café Sia Gawler, has again proved to have a winning recipe by claiming another award at the SA Savour Australia Restaurant & Catering Hostplus Awards for Excellence. They’ve won for the third year in a row – this time being voted the Best Regional Café in South Australia at the 2017 event.

The victory follows the Evanston-based eatery’s debut award as Best New Café in 2015 and a double treat in 2016 when it won not only the Best Café Restaurant in the North East but the celebrated major award, Café of the Year.

Café Sia Gawler’s recipe for success is founded on the Haidar brothers’ Lebanese heritage, its love of food – with a generous sprinkling of Italian influence courtesy of their wives – and family values.

Proud and honoured to have won a hat-trick of awards at this prestigious hospitality event, co-owner Gaby Haidar, who runs the café with his brother Danny, believes the awards represent a vote of confidence in their relentless drive to provide their customers with exceptional service and the best possible all-round culinary experience every time they join them for a meal or a coffee – and always in a warm, relaxed and friendly setting.

The Café Sia menu caters for all tastes and desires, with all dishes made from fresh local produce and complemented by local and international wines and the finest coffee.

It includes pizzas and pastas, chicken dishes, risottos, and a selection of seafood and meat creations, while the Haidar brothers are delighted to have recently introduced a separate gluten-free menu. The variety doesn’t end there though. Their chef places a heavy focus on coming up with mouth-watering monthly creative specials, which include decadently delicious desserts and the very popular range of ‘Ultimate Shakes’.

The SA Savour Australia Restaurant & Catering Hostplus Awards for Excellence saw over 1,000 local restaurants, cafes and catering businesses and personalities gather at the Adelaide Convention Centre on July 31, 2017 to celebrate the achievements of their peers in almost 60 different categories.

A nationally recognised awards program, it celebrates exceptional service and culinary talent across the state and is the only program in Australia where the judging criteria is determined by consumers who rank what is important to them in the dining experience. The Awards are judged by an independent team of trained judges who anonymously visit the venues to determine the winners. The scores are based on the entire dining experience from food to the customer service experienced when the judges anonymously dine.
