JamFactory at Seppeltsfield has welcomed the arrival of Julie Fleming, Milliner (hat designer & maker) to the Barossa, joining as a resident of the art and design studios.
Fleming, originally of Melbourne, has made the move to the Barossa attracted by the opportunity to join the cluster of artisans now based at the Seppeltsfield estate which include a Knife Maker, Leather Worker and Glass Artist.
The craft of Millinery now joins JamFactory at Seppeltsfield, with Fleming’s handmade hats, headbands and fascinators. Fleming’s lines extend from head wear to belts, jewellery, handbags, haberdashery and bridal wear.
Following five years at art school and post graduate studies in fine art, Fleming travelled to London to complete her training, where she discovered her passion for hat design and making, entering the fashion industry in 1989 with the launch of her own hat and fascinator range.
“I love the public interaction and the beautiful surrounds here at JamFactory Seppeltsfield”, said Fleming.
“It’s such a unique atmosphere to combine diverse artisan specialities all under the one roof and within the historic Seppeltsfield estate itself.” “I am very thankful for the opportunity provided by JamFactory”, she added.
Fleming’s designs have attracted the interest of leading fashion publications, having been featured on the front cover of VOGUE Australia Magazine five times. Her hats and fascinators are often shipped directly to international customers, many of which have become regular collectors.
“I often receive requests to create bespoke hats and fascinators from travelling clients to have them delivered direct to their hotel”. “The Victorian Spring carnival in particular always generates an influx of interest and demand from international clients visiting Australia”, she added.
With the Adelaide Cup approaching (Monday March 9th), Fleming encourages visitors to view her latest range of head wear available and on display at JamFactory Seppeltsfield.
