Adelaide, like the rest of Australia it seems, has gone a little crazy over Kmart lately! The reason for this new found addiction is the new range of on trend, affordable, modern, colourful pieces for every area in your home. The latest catalogue has been released this week and it is all kinds of amazing.
Kmart has recently reinvented itself to be at the forefront of chain brand homewares. Now it’s quite acceptable (if you get to your store quick enough!) to mix and match high end pieces with furniture and accessories from stores such as Kmart and not be embarrassed to say so! It may not be the real deal and it does copy its well established competitors, but with the target audience aimed at young, first homeowners and young families , why shouldn’t you have a bit of style in your home?
Australians are now pouring over their latest Kmart catalogues from their letter boxes where as not so long ago they were immediately thrown into the recycling bin! Kmart products are featuring in popular Australian interior mags and everyone, it seems, is talking about it!
Copper wire baskets are literally sold out in under an hour, armadillo style rugs gone almost before they hit the floor! Cushions and white dipped baskets are stacked into trolleys. Fun, modern, on trend, geometric patterned quilt covers changing bedrooms around Australia! Copper lamps sold out before the morning is over, laundry hampers made to look cool again and are getting kids excited about which side they put their dirty laundry in, white or colour? I should know, I’m one of the crazy addicts, who picked up a copper wire basket, decided to think about it rather than purchasing straight away (why did I do that?) only to come back the next morning to find the entire section empty!
Well done Kmart, you have made Australians fall in love with their homes again and that can only be a good, affordable, on trend thing!
Here are some of my top picks from the latest catalogue. Copper is massive at the moment, so I suggest adding it into your home anyway you can, even if only a little, with some canisters or a storage basket. I always love a cute little rug to brighten up a space, and a bright geometric print cushion will make the perfect partner to any couch. Plus, the bright and funky laundry hampers are not only cool to look at but get the kids excited about cleaning, and considering I love things to be organised, it is the perfect addition to the kids’ bathroom.I also couldn’t go past the amazing white dipped baskets. The combination of wicker and white paint is très chic and will suit basically any home – hello more good looking storage!
