The first ever gin from SA Distilling Co is packed with handpicked botanicals from across the state from Lake Alexandrina, Mundoora to the Adelaide Hills.

While most of us were guilty of indulging in few more glasses of gin than usual over lockdown, few can say it was part of intensive taste profile research for a new gin that celebrates everything South Australia.

Heaps Good Gin, is the debut from SA Distilling Co., the newest gin brand adding to the vibrant craft scene here in SA. Dubbed ‘South Australia in a bottle’, creators Marcelle McEwan and Greg Nunan have worked with Prohibition Liquor Co.’s Head Distiller Hugh Lumsden, to painstakingly select flavourful botanicals from across the state for a taste that “packs more punch than a sold-out Showdown”.

Officially launching on the 8th of June, Heaps Good is a love letter to South Australia, with elements of the Festival State contributing to SA Distilling Co.’s philosophy of supporting local, souring every element possible from logo designers, printers, packagers and distillers from South Australia.

The flavour profile of the gin has a powerful, zesty finish with a sophisticated blend of Riverland Orange, Mypolonga Finger Lime balanced with savoury notes of Saltbush from Lake Eyre and natively foraged Pink Pepper.

Respectively a cook and online-marketer by day, Marcelle and Greg wanted to feel in safe hands for their first bottle, working with Prohibition Liquor to distill and produce Heaps Good at the Adelaide CBD’s HQ, initially testing out their tipple with a soft-launch at the Bowerbird Markets in early May.

Heaps Good Gin won’t be available to buy until the 8th of June, but if you can’t wait until then to try “South Australia in a bottle”, you can taste the gin exclusively at Yeah Nah Yeah cafe.
