A wise person once said, “You never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory” and one McLaren Vale winery is helping us to savour these moments by accompanying them with the perfect drop.
You’ve probably heard of Heidrun Estate. In fact, it’s probably on your list of must-visit locations down South thanks to its insta-worthy grounds but the entirely female-operated business offers more than just the perfect backdrop.

Heidrun Estate’s vision is simple: To celebrate South Australian wines in a relaxed, inviting setting and to create a boutique selection of wines to pair with any occasion. In fact, that’s their exact slogan. A wine for every occasion.
“Each occasion is different but they all revolve around experiences we enjoy with family, friends or lovers. Most importantly the memories made in these moments that last a lifetime. No matter what the occasion we have the perfect wine pairing,” explains Heidrun’s Marketing Manager, Alicia Monck.
And luckily, Heidrun Estate’s onsite restaurant is the perfect starting point to make those new memories.

While McLaren Vale is blessed with a slew of upmarket and fine-dining restaurants, dining at Heidrun is relaxed and unassuming, despite the very obvious beauty of the property. Heidrun Estate has something for everyone, with a menu that offers gluten-free and vegan options with vegan wines to pair.
“We offer an alternative to fine dining and have a relaxed style menu that is very popular due to the style and variety of dishes,” explains Alicia.
“We provide affordable food and wine experiences in a beautiful and humble setting for those wanting to explore the world of wine”.
Affordable is the key phrase here and with the addition of Heidrun’s latest Friday Lunch Special, you’ll be able to sample a variety of small and large share plates, the infamous stone-baked pides and a dessert, all for just $40!
Menu items include duck and mushroom arancini, veggie gyoza, pork belly bites, grilled king prawns and crostoli with orange-infused honey.

The menu at Heidrun Estate is fresh and delicious but it’s the Turkish Pides that seem to be the pick of the lot.
A sesame flatbread, stone grilled to perfection and filled with your choice of prawns, Peking duck, prosciutto di parma or broccolini with baked ricotta, it’s the perfection of this simple dish that truly encapsulates Heidrun’s ethos.

Heidrun Estate is open Thursday through to Sunday and is a must for any occasion which luckily, the team will have the perfect wine to match.
Heidrun Estate is located at 67 Kays Road, McLaren Vale 5171.
