Adelaide’s newest social enterprise FunSouls is calling all Aussies to share a pair this festive season to help those in need.
FunSouls founded by Justin Klimentou and Leo Smit launched last month and is Adelaide’s answer to funky socks that make a difference.
Supporting the Hutt St Centre in Adelaide and Anonymous X in Melbourne, FunSouls operates under a buy one, donate one model.
Justin and Leo were inspired to start the business not only to provide affordable, fashionable socks, but in having volunteered at the Hutt St Centre in the past, homelessness is an issue they could not ignore.
“Those in need simply don’t have the luxury of replacing socks daily and therefore over time, hygiene can have a serious impact. Something as simple as a fresh, clean pair of socks can go a long way,” said Justin.
The rate of homelessness in Australia has increased 4.6% over the last 5 years, with the figure continuing to grow. The FunSouls team firmly believe that a necessity such as a pair of socks is something that should be within reach for everyone, and that style and comfort shouldn’t be compromised.
”We are providing a high-quality sock, made with an organic cotton blend and a padded sole,” said Justin.
Their purpose goes beyond commerce, rather than solely (pun intended) focusing on profits, the company have found a way to instead direct that money back into the community by providing socks to those in need with every sale made.
Whilst they are new to the market, FunSouls’ vision is to donate thousands of socks per year to keep Aussie’s toes toasty. As it’s the season of giving now is the time to support this invaluable cause.
“It’s really rewarding, being able to work on such a fun project and knowing you’re able to give something back at the same time,” said Justin.
