Back in April this year, South Australians rallied together to show their support for the South Australian craft beer industry, with the first edition of the Heaps Good Indie Beer Pack selling out in a few days. The coveted pack helped us all get through iso without sacrificing the finer things in life (like 24 South Aussie craft beers), while helping the indie beer industry survive some tough times.
Now it’s time to dip in to the ol’ wallet again, because the Heaps Good Indie Beer Pack is back and better than ever, while the industry still needs our support.
This latest pioneering mixed-pack is a showcase of styles from go-to standbys to wild exotica – with delivery and pick-up well-timed for the Independent Brewers Association’s Indie Beer Day on July 25.
The first edition of the Heaps Good Indie Beer Pack early this year sold out in just three days – such is the fanship of this small but powerful craft industry. With a just a toe in the door of Australia’s corporate domination of beer, indie brewers hold just 3 per cent market share. But Indie Beer Pack organiser Tony Dichiera, of The Suburban Brew, says craft is not about big bucks and monopolies.
“While we only have a tiny share of the national market segment, we are in the forefront of craft beer drinkers’ thoughts about quality, individuality and supporting local,” he says.
“The last pack was such a success, it was an obvious decision to follow it up with another cracker. We realised it was time to band together again and help each other out. As a community, we can pull great collaboration projects together really quickly and everyone’s in the right mindset to do it. And the beers are excellent!”
As local owner/brewers, James McCall, of Shapeshifter Brewing, and Dichiera have directed traffic on the new carton featuring 13 award-winning breweries to remind beer enthusiasts how engaging craft beer is.
“This box is a glimpse into a moment in time around SA’s indie brewing scene,” says Dichiera.
“Again, it shows the wide divide between aromas and flavours of the craft scene compared with mainstream beer.”
The Heaps Good Indie Beer Pack Part Two is limited to just 300 cartons and sells by pre-order from midday on Friday, July 10.
The new edition features beers by Barossa Valley Brewing, The Suburban Brew, Left Barrel Brewing, Swell Brewing Co., Watsacowie Brewing Company, Shapeshifter Brewing Company, Sparkke, Big Shed Brewing Concern, Little Bang Brewing Company, Mismatch Brewing Co., Uraidla Brewery, Prancing Pony Brewery and Fox Hat Brewing.
