Henley Beach Is Home Of Free Skin Checks This Weekend

Aussies love a good tan, and long hot summer, but you’ve got to look after your skin, and this weekend at Henley it’s easier than ever.

Summer, here at Glam (and we think Australia in general) we LOVE summer. But of course, it’s not a proper Aussie summer unless at one point or another you suffer from the dreaded sunburn – no matter how much you slip, slop, slap, slide and seek.

Now, we know, we know, it tans up good, and we love a good tan (some of ours are fake, but *shhhh*). However, with that tan comes the possibility of some rougher additions, like skin spots and dodgy freckles.

Here at Glam Adelaide some of us are guilty of not having a proper skin check, so we thought it best to share with you the news that the TAL SPotChecker popup is coming to Henley Beach this weekend on February 10 and 11.

To encourage Australians to enjoy the sun with confidence and raise awareness about the importance of professional skin checks, TAL launched a series of pop-up skin clinics at some of Australia’s most iconic locations around the country.

Launched during the first weekend of summer, TAL SpotChecker has since provided free skin checks and sun safety advice to more than 850 Australians with 184 of those referred for further testing.

TAL General Manager, Health Services, Dr Sally Phillips, said, “Skin cancer is one of Australia’s most common cancers, with almost 14,000 people estimated to be affected each year, but it is also one of the most easily detectable and preventable.

“Self-checking is a great first step in early detection of skin cancer, but we advise Australians to get a professional check every year. Of those who have had a skin check at TAL SpotChecker so far, more than 92% indicated that they will prioritise skin checks going forward,” Dr Phillips said.

The pop-up clinic will be at Henley Beach in Adelaide on 10-11 February, offering free skin checks from specialist skin cancer doctors, along with resources to help people better understand sun safety. You can book in here, or try your luck with a walk-up appointment.
