SA artists, art-lovers, and general fans of the beach – once again, Henley Beach is stepping up as a SALA destination. Shops, restaurants, and cafes in the area are all looking to host artists, either emerging or experienced. SALA is a state-wide festival showcasing the best of our local visual art, and it’s not too late to get involved.
With the weather cooling down, visits to Henley Beach tend to involve less swimming and more sitting (inside, rugged up), generally with a hot cup of coffee. When SALA descends upon Henley, you’ll be able to enjoy said cup of coffee (or a beer at the Ramsgate) whilst admiring the work of local artists. In a sense, SALA at Henley Beach will make for a sprawling, captivating ‘art gallery’, with the added bonus of crisp sea air.

Last year, an impressive variety of pieces were showcased across thirty venues, including hairdressing salons, bakeries, restaurants, and cafes, as well as a jewellery gallery and an art gallery. This year is expected to be equally successful. All art is welcome as long as it was created by a South Aussie artist.
To kick things off, a launch will be held at the Ramsgate Hotel. Come August, you will also be able to pick up a flyer listing the venues and artists, or check out Henley Beach’s website here.

It’s a fairly simple process to get involved in SALA by the Beach, and interested artists are encouraged to get in touch with [email protected] ASAP.
SALA 2019 will take place from the 1 – 31 August.
