Amongst the current mixed jar of news, from the reporting of unfortunate, but necessary restrictions to stories of kindness and hope, comes another note of good news.
Beloved South Australian winery, Henschke, has received the ‘Star Cellar Door’ award in the Gourmet Traveller Wine Cellar Door Awards for 2020.
The cellar door is housed in the original 1860s grain barn, with the original dry-stone walls of the barn being preserved and brought to life to become a new Henschke tasting experience, paying respect to the past 150 years of Henschke family winemaking and embracing the future.
As you taste through a line-up of beautiful wines in these intimate surrounds, watched over by portraits of Henschke forebears, you will feel very connected to the six generations of family who have contributed to the success of Henschke.
With such a rich history behind them, it’s no wonder their atmospheric cellar doors holds the ‘Star Cellar Door’ award three years running.
What’s more, recently Henschke was also ranked in the Top 20 of Drinks International ‘World’s Most Admired Wine Brands 2020’, coming in at no. 18 in the coveted list.
“We are overjoyed and honoured to be placed in the Top 20, as a new entry. To be one of five Australian wine brands included in this prestigious list is gratifying,” says owner and chief winemaker Stephen Henschke.
While the Henschke cellar door is closed for the time being in response to COVID-19 restrictions, every day we get closer to being able to visit once more.
Until then, you can shop their gorgeous Eden Valley, Barossa Valley, and Adelaide Hills wines at https://www.henschke.com.au/store/.
