Cheese and wine, cheese and beer, cheese on it’s own, however you put it, we love cheese.
The good folk at The Smelly Cheese Shop know this all too well and have been putting on a (mega popular) series of Cheese Masterclasses which usually sell-out in the blink of an eye. So quick that we haven’t ever been able to nab tickets.
By a strike of luck, we’ve found the last remaining tickets to tonight’s Cheese After Dark Masterclass at Adelaide Central Market. Unlike any other class before it, this tasting will be paired with award-winning brews from Prancing Pony Brewery.
Little did you know cheese and beer are old friends in fermentation. They’re all the latest rage in foodie circles. Why? Because while some cheese and wine pairings can set off fireworks, many don’t. Beer is easier to pair with cheese, a more forgiving medium in which to taste the subtleties of dairy. The Smelly Cheese resident cheese-xpert Valerie Henbest with Lisa Liebelt from Prancing Pony will lead you in an introduction to this lovely couple.
You’ll be able to taste the Supreme World Champion Beer amongst some other gems. There’s not massive amounts of bitterness to this beer which actually makes it the perfect South Australian brew to go with South Australian food. This class will also give you a chance to explore the complex flavours and the incredible variety of cheese produced by skilled artisan makers world wide. You will learn about the various conditions in which they are made and matured. Your taste buds will be challenged with different styles of cheese while learning about the basic rules of sensory analysis so you will go away with the knowledge required to understand and really appreciate fine cheese. This class will suit beginners and those looking for something more challenging.
