Get ready to electrify your senses with HEXADECA, proudly brought to you by Adelaide’s creative studio Pulsing Heart, who are known for redefining art for public spaces and pushing creative boundaries. The music-making playground is a fully immersive display of colours and sounds that comes alive through interactive activity, transforming Glenelg’s foreshore play space into a vibrant arena.
The installation, the first work of Pulsing Heart and originally commissioned by WOMADelaide in 2022, showcases a series of 16 fibreglass seats and the work of eight different musicians, coming together to make 16 layers of music. Basically, when one person spins in a seat, it activates one layer of music and a corresponding light. Fill all 16 seats, and all colours and music layers are activated, making a truly spectacular sensory experience with this tactile work of art.

Travelling all over the country in a 20-foot shipping container, HEXADECA has proud South Australian roots, and is a unique experience that can be enjoyed by all ages. Having already tested the waters in Rundle Mall and in other major cities, and proving to be widely successful across multigenerational audiences, HEXADECA is finally returning home to SA and preparing to be unveiled in Mosely Square next month, for 16 days of creative mastery.
“It really brings the community together through play and music,” says Joren Dawson from Pulsing Heart. “I think we’re the only ones making work of this scale in Adelaide, so it’s really great to bring our work home after a tour and show it to our home audiences.”
Be sure to head down to Moseley Square next month and take part in HEXADECA’s breathtaking installation.
