Hey! Rosé!… Pink Flamingo blushes tonight at Arcade Lane

FlamingoARCADE LANE, Adelaide’s newest outdoor, laneway venue opened last week with a flurry of tap dancing; graffiti art; nude body-painting and grand burlesque.

Tonight, Adelaide’s newest venue will host a night dedicated to the pink flamingo.

Exclusive to Arcade Lane, Pink Flamingo is a new French Rosé only just available in Australia. Max the flamingo will be at Arcade Lane to welcome guests.

Arcade Lane ‘popped up’ on February 18th. For one month this grungy Adelaide laneway will welcome burlesque, live music, dance and cabaret in a unique venue.

The rejuvenation of Arcade Lane, between Rundle Mall and Grenfell Street and adjacent to the historic Regent Theatres of Adelaide is the brainchild of bar designer and operator, Ross Stanley.

Stanley says the idea was to create a “pop-up” venue – the likes of which have been seen in Melbourne and Sydney, but one that will re-shape the mould of temporary City spaces.

“Arcade Lane is a place to eat and drink – meets performance space – meets burlesque house. Anything can and will happen,” Stanley says.

“The two theatres of the old Regent Cinemas will be programmed with over 120 sessions of comedy, Burlesque, Physical Theatre, Cabaret, Dance, DJs, Theatre, Live Video Mixing, Bands, Short Film & Spoken word from around the world” Stanley says.

Earmarked for future development and unused since 2003, the two remaining Regent cinemas will be transformed into unique performance spaces, each hosting between three and five different performances each night, Stanley says.

Max the flamingo, visiting from France and spending quality time in Adelaide for the Fringe and Festival season said that his wine is fashioned from Grenache grapes grown on the sandy soil of the Camargue.

“This fine Gris de Gris is a true example of French style and panache.”

“As the Camargue itself is home to families of pink flamingos, this elegant drop is appropriately coloured a beautiful pale pink colour by the Grenache grapes that have sat for a short time on skins.

“The beak excites with small berry fruits and the fleshy mouth emphasises the spicy red berry palate.

Pink Flamingo (currently exclusive to Arcade Lane) is soon to be found on the most discerning of wine lists and will be the talk of every Rosé aficionado in town.
