Kids’ favourite Hi-5 are touring next month with a brand new show and a special announcement. “House Hits”, showing at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre on July 10, will see Hi-5 play their fans’ favourite songs as voted on social media.
The songs will be selected by spinning a wheel and whichever song the wheel stops at is what the group will sing next. But fans will also have the chance to say goodbye to Lauren Brant who has announced her departure from the group after five years. Brant has decided to embark on a new adventure and is farewelling her life in the popular group, and introducing new member Tanika Anderson to take her spot.
Brant said her time in the group has been special but the 25 year old is looking forward to the next chapter of her life. “My whole life has been Hi-5. There’s so much I want to do. I want to get into hosting and acting; not so much children’s television but I’ll be putting all of my love of children’s entertainment into loliboli,” she said. loliboli, Brant’s children’s clothing label has recently launched and she is thrilled about the response it has received, including the chance to design all of the costumes for the “House Hits” tour. “The kids in the audience can buy replica costumes which they can wear to the show! I started loliboli because I love children’s imaginations and how they play. So I reflect that in my designs with bright colours and patterns,” she said. “They’re really comfortable because I’ve taken away zips and ties. Kids can wear them out to dinner, around the house, even in the swimming pool because they’re made from lycra which dries easily.”
Despite looking toward her new label and future goals, Brant is sad to say goodbye to the audiences she has enjoyed performing for. “Parents and fans write the most beautiful things on social media saying I’ve made children happy all over the world. I want to say thank you for the amount of love they’ve shown me over the past five years,” she said.
