It’s a hidden gem nestled in the heart of the Adelaide Hills. Commune of Buttons is opening its doors to the public for its first-ever Open Cellar Day on Saturday, 21st October, offering a rare peek into the meticulous world of winemaking.
This event promises to blend wine tastings, insightful discussions, and a tour through the organic vineyards and state-of-the-art winery.
This event is more than just a chance to taste wine. It’s an opportunity to explore the beautiful Adelaide hills, enjoy delicious local food, and relax to some great music.
Commune of Buttons, a dream nurtured by a brother and sister duo, stands as a symbol of communal unity in the cultivation of grapes. The 70-acre Fernglen, a mix of bush paddocks and lush vineyards, has been all bout community since its inception, with the annual harvest being a collective endeavour involving friends and family, all coming together to raise a bottle in unity.
The winery embarked on its journey of organic practices in 2012, a path filled with learning, balancing, and unraveling the intricacies of organic viticulture.
The commune is a proponent of a cyclic process, harmonizing with the seasons, the rhythms of sunrises, moon cycles, rain, and growth. Every decision is a conscious step towards maintaining equilibrium with the earth and fostering the well-being of the commune.
Participants of the Open Cellar Day will be treated to a comprehensive cellar tour with barrel tasting, a detailed vineyard tour, enlightening discussions on regenerative viticulture, and a selection of light refreshments and snacks crafted from farm produce. Attendees will also have the opportunity to purchase wines by the glass and to take away.
So. Haven’t heard of Commune of Buttons? Now’s your chance to become familiar, with a glass of vino in hand.
