Popular Adelaide food precinct, Leigh Street, saw its newest restaurant open this past weekend with the addition of Fugazzi Bar & Dining Room opening its doors for the first time.
Formerly Rigoni’s Bistro, the Leigh Street space has been taken over by powerhouse foodie duo Max and Laura Sharred, co-owners of Hyde Park’s popular Italian spot Nido, who have brought the Fugazzi vision to life in partnership with Studio-gram, the group behind a number of architecturally gorgeous venues across Adelaide.
Guests can expect an array of perfectly crafted menu items – a step away from Nido’s menu; inspired by the foods Max and Laura grew up eating – with a more high-end offering in a space that guests can dress up and make a night out of.
The curated menu currently features gourmet pizza options including decadent smoked eggplant pizza with confit garlic, San Marzano, fermented chilli and pecorino alongside decadent grill and pasta options including luxurious whole egg taglierini, hand picked blue swimmer crab.
The already flavoursome offerings also feature a “snack + plates” menu with crème fraiche, salmon roe and chives atop a mouth-watering potato cake that looks as good as gold and fresh oysters in a number of styles just to name a few.
Fugazzi’s interior boasts a sleek and modern feel with a stone-top bar and checkerboard bar stools in what Laura describes as “modern”, “more sophisticated” and “influenced but not bound by tradition” and accents of red throughout the space give it a rich heritage feel.
The restaurant also has a detailed wine list to match its curated menu and fit out, in collaboration with winemaker Justin Lane who has worked with several restaurants on their wine offerings.
Fugazzi Bar & Dining Room is open Tuesday to Sunday, 11:30am ‘till late.
