Some dreams start small. For SA native Nathan Woodrow, his started back in 2016 when he was selling t-shirts in his lunch hour at high school. From there, his passion led to the creation of clothing label, Ryde Clothing which this month has seen its first brick and mortar location open its doors.
The popular SA streetwear label, which specialises in cool and casual tees, jumpers, headwear and accessories, has come a long way since launching back in Nathan’s high school days.
Nathan, who launched the brand at the age of sixteen, started Ryde Clothing as a hobby to keep him busy after a knee injury kept him sidelined from sports for 18 months.
With a huge passion for sport and adventure, Nathan started off with a few printed t-shirts, as a way to encourage young people to get outdoors and live their best lives.
“Ryde clothing was born as a way to keep in the sport and adventure scene while I was on crutches and dreaming of getting back on my board and bike,” says Nathan, the brains behind Ryde Clothing.
“It’s now been four years and my passion for the brand has become stronger every day.”
After previously opening up a small pop up store down a quaint little alleyway on Renmark Avenue, Nathan made the decision to open up a more permanent retail space for Ryde.
“I loved having somewhere that people could actually come in, have a quick conversation and see at what Ryde is all about.”
Situated in the Riverland in Nathan’s hometown of Renmark, Ryde’s first store, which opened this past Thursday, boasts some of the most incredible views from its riverside location.
“I thought Renmark was the best place to do so (open up a store) because it is where the Ryde brand was born.”
Open Tuesday to Friday 10 AM to 5 PM and Saturday 9 AM to 2 PM, you’ll be able to get your hands on a whole range of Ryde Clothing’s signature pieces, whether it’s a jumper to keep you warm this winter or a tank for when things start heating up again.
