If you’ve recently been down Rundle Street, you may have seen a familiar venue, as Blackwood restaurant Lenox Avenue has officially opened the doors to a second location.
The Lenox Avenue sign with a cartoon pug wearing a bright red bow is hard to miss, and owner Haroon Ali says he is super excited about the expansion.
Lenox Avenue on Rundle is a cafe, bar and restaurant and will be a haven for urban dwellers to get their caffeine fix, make a lunch-stop, settle in to a cosy area before work or commute for meetings.
The sleek interior of the new location is decked out with black furniture and fresh white walls atop polished timber flooring, the bold Lenox Avenue logo central on the dining room wall, all set in a light and bright space, with greenery bringing the venue to life.
“This place is a bit more upmarket in regards to furniture, it follows the flow of Lenox 1 into Lenox 2, it feels the same but this one is a bit different, it is a bit more upmarket,” Haroon says.
The modern-Australian menu with a bit of an Asian twist includes an array of options from classics to new dishes created by Lenox Avenue’s chefs, so there is something to tempt all tastebuds.
“Our menu is simple, but it covers different aspects of different cultures. I take pride in our food and coffee, so whatever it is, it is fresh ingredients with quality chefs,” Haroon says.
And don’t forget to bring your four-legged friends along to enjoy a meal in the outdoor seating area, as Lenox Avenue is a dog friendly cafe.
The venue name ‘Lenox Avenue’ originates from a laneway in Harlem, New York, which is renowned for its vibrant history and bringing different cultures together, which has influenced the Lenox Avenue ethos.
Haroon says his journey in the hospitality industry began from working in Melbourne’s renowned Hardware Lane and he is passionate about bringing smiles to customers’ faces while providing exceptional service
“I have been in hospitality for a long time and I just want to serve the customers the way I want to be served. I want to serve with a smile and good food, all food and coffees are made with love,” he says.
Haroon has exciting ideas in the pipeline for the three-storey venue, including transforming the upstairs area into a cocktail bar hopefully in time for the 2024 Fringe and turning the first floor underneath the dining area into a wine cellar.
Lenox Avenue on Rundle is currently open for breakfast and lunch from 7:30am until 3:30pm, but hours will eventually extend through to dinner service from 7:30pm to 9:30pm and Haroon says Lenox’s doors will be open all day with all-day breakfast.
“The menu will always be up and running, even if people want to have a good coffee late in the evening, they can,” he says.
