Hip hip hooray! Celebrate the Peninsula Hotel’s 1st birthday with a 3-day bash

The celebrations will be full of live music, craft beer, specialty cocktails and 60s vibes.

South Australia’s answer to Palm Springs is celebrating its 1st birthday.

Get ready for a boozy birthday bash at the Peninsula Hotel. The celebrations will be full of live music, craft beer, specialty cocktails and 60s vibes. To celebrate and thank all of the hotel’s supporters and patrons, the bash will be spread over 3 whole days starting on July 1st.

The festivities will kick off on Friday, July 1 with a free Mr Buzzy Band Show providing its musical stylings in the Live Lounge from 8pm. The four-piece act will play a selection of tunes, ranging from pop, RnB, dance and top 40 hits.

Saturday will see DJ Pedro Moshman on the decks in the picturesque courtyard from 7 pm. The set will consist of heavy hitter hits from yesteryear, as well as some of your favourite contemporary tracks.

The birthday celebrations promise to end with a bang as local blues, rock and folk artist Billy Bob Rankine takes to the courtyard stage from 2pm – 5pm on Sunday.

Friday and Saturday has discounted base spirits and selected pints on offer, as well as 2-for-1 cocktails!

Sunday won’t be left hanging, with $15 cocktail carafes, $15 pizzas and tasting stalls on offer all day.

Stalls include:

· Prohibition Liquor Co. – handmade small batch craft gins / complimentary tastings

· Big Shed Brewing – westside craft beer legends and colab-partner of our Peninsula Proud Hazy Pale / complimentary tastings

· Floyd & Frankie – florals, gifts and homewares

· Sidewood Estate – award-winning Adelaide Hills winery / complimentary tastings

The hotel is no stranger to a weekly roster of events, but the space has come a long way from its humble beginnings almost a year ago.

The Dean Group of Hotels launched the Peninsula Hotel in June last year. The space is unrecognisable from the original pub set-up, adding a new signature retro style and flair.

If you’re in the mood for an open-air feel, you can dine in the Peninsula Hotel’s beautiful courtyard garden, which features a gorgeous 50-year-old frangipani tree extending toward a retractable roof, so the alfresco booth seating is available in any weather. Perhaps most excitingly, there’s also a repurposed 1950’s school bus situated in the courtyard with bench seating and terrazzo tables. The bus area can be booked and is perfect for small groups – and is a massive hit with little ones!

No matter which quirky area you choose, there will be delicious international food and local beverages on offer. Signature meals at the renovated hotel include pork and cabbage/vegan potsticker dumplings with soy, black vinegar and chilli oil, Thai banana blossom & ginger poached chicken salad with Asian herbs, scorched peanuts, coconut, chilli jam dressing & sold boiled egg, philly cheesesteak in a footlong hoagie roll with thinly sliced wagyu steak, caramelised onions, confit peppers, cheese sauce and fries. Along with their newest menu addition, Korean fried chicken with sweet and spicy sauce, peanuts, coriander, pickles and kewpie mayo.

Indoors, there’s a large dining area, where guests can order from a revamped indoor caravan and create a food truck experience, as well as the Live Lounge that sees Adelaide bands performing on Friday nights.

Going forward, the venue will continue to hold events, starting with a Prohibition Liquor Co. Masterclass this Saturday, along with an 80s-filled evening with the New Romantics in the Live Lounge on Friday, July 8 and Granny Flaps Comedy Bingo Wednesday, July 20.
