The VALO Adelaide 500 will pay tribute to Holden by hosting the Holden Tribute Cruise – a cavalcade of hundreds of Holden vehicles travelling from the former Elizabeth Holden factory to the Adelaide 500 street circuit at Victoria Park.
The cruise will commemorate the Holden brand’s final Supercars race at the VALO Adelaide 500 and will be held on Saturday 3 December.
Tickets will be released at 9.00am tomorrow (Tuesday 27 September) and Holden owners are encouraged to secure their place in the convoy.
Holden car owners can simply purchase any Saturday ticket option via Ticketek and follow the prompts to add the Holden Tribute Cruise to their package for just $25. Holden owners who have already purchased tickets can update their ticket.
“This is an outstanding way to pay tribute to a South Australian icon, as the Holden brand bids farewell to Supercars,” says Premier Peter Malinauskas.
“It is fitting Holden’s final race will be at the Adelaide street circuit and the Holden Tribute Cruise will give Holden fans a chance to commemorate this historic occasion.”
In addition to taking part in the motorcade, participants will gain access to convenient display parking inside the event precinct on Saturday and Sunday, giving them pole position for a jam-packed day of on and off-track entertainment at the VALO Adelaide 500.
In another celebration of the iconic Australian marque, the VALO Adelaide 500 will also see a display of 33 special Holden vehicles from throughout its history.
The homage to Holden will culminate in legend of the brand Craig Lowndes completing a lap of honour at the VALO Adelaide 500 while behind the wheel of a treasured Holden vehicle.
“Holden has been such a strong, iconic brand in Australia, I’m very proud to have won all three of my Supercars Championships in a Holden, as well as four Bathurst 1000s,” says Craig Lowndes.
“I am honoured and humbled to give Holden the send-off they deserve in Adelaide, where they have seen so much success over the years both on and off the track.”
