Home gathering limit increased, SA’s border with NSW may open in next fortnight

Premier Steven Marshall has announced home gathering limits will increase, and border restrictions with NSW and the ACT may ease if low case numbers continue.

South Australia has not reported any further community transmission, and Premier Steven Marshall is reducing restrictions as a result.

As of Friday, August 28, home gathering limits will increase from ten to fifty.

Additionally, those travelling into SA from a state the borders are open to can fly through Canberra or Sydney airport without needing to isolate upon arrival.

If no community transmission is recorded between today and midnight on Thursday, SA will reinstate the 40km “buffer zone” either side of the border with Victoria, meaning cross-border communities can travel freely.

Regarding SA’s border with New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory, the Premier stated he is “very pleased” with the continuing good performance of these jurisdictions.

Should the case numbers remain low, the Premier said it is possible the requirement for self isolation upon arrival in SA be removed for those travelling from NSW or the ACT within the next two weeks.

More to come.
