Head To Rundle Mall And Make History This Easter

This Easter will see history in the making for Adelaide with stores open for business for the very first time between 11am – 5pm in Rundle Mall on Easter Sunday and Monday.

The additional two also mark the dawn of a new area for Adelaide as they are the first holiday trading days since the legislation passed through State Parliament enabling South Australia's premier shopping precinct to open for trade on all but 2.5 days of the year (excludes Good Friday, Christmas day and Anzac day till noon).

"This is a momentous occasion for Adelaide" said Martin Haese, Rundle Mall General Manager.

"Based on the outstanding results we've recently seen from previous public holiday trading granted via special exemptions since Christmas, we know that Adelaide whole heartedly supports this. At Easter, the news is also welcome for many thousands of visitors to Adelaide from regional SA and interstate."

"Rundle Mall is not only Adelaide's premier shopping precinct; it is also the heartbeat of our city. Finally our media will not be able to show images (post-Easter) of deserted city streets alongside those of a bustling Sydney or Melbourse." he said.

Over Easter, Rundle Mall Management will provide fantastic family entertainment and activities for visitors to Rundle Mall over Saturday, Sunday and Monday trading period.

-Roving Street Theatre – Rundle Mall's "signature event" – some of the very best street theatre performers in Australia will entertain visitors over the full 3 day Easter trading period.

-Live Music – bands will perform under the Gawler Place canopy on Easter Sunday and Monday.

-Buskers – always a favourite with the crowds.

-City car parks will provide various special offers across the long weekend (visit www.rundlemall.com for details).

"The legislative changes for the publi holiday shopping are exclusive to the Rundle Mall precinct and central business district," Lord Mayor Stephen Yarwood said.

"It means the City will be the focal point for visitors and locals alike – I urge everyone to make a day of it over the Easter break and soak up the wonderful City atmosphere."

So 'Hop to it', be part of history and enjoy the shopping and entertainment in Rundle Mall this Easter – finally!
