We’ve seen our fair share of food and drink challenges. Whether it be a 1kg schnitty or a 1L craft beer challenge, all of these challenges are both subject to intrigue and worry.
To mark the 4th of July American holiday, Shifty Lizard Brewing Co. is challenging anyone whose eyes are as big as their stomach, to a huge hot dog eating competition.
The Willunga brewer has named the challenge ‘The Big Diggity Dog Eating Challenge’.
You are asked to devour a 24” or 60cm brioche bun, with a 22.5-ounce cheese kransky with pickles, red onions, mustard and ketchup with a basket of seasoned fries. But to win big, the team at Shifty Lizard asks you to complete the challenge within 30 minutes, where the fastest time wins.
Times will be calculated to determine podium finishes. First place will win a $100 voucher, second place will win a $70 voucher and the third place will win a $40 voucher.
There will be a maximum of 8 entrants, and you must be pre-registered 2 hours prior to event. The entry fee will be $40.
The competition takes place within two time slots, the first half contestants will start at 12:30 pm and the second half will start at 1:30 pm.
The all-American hot dog eating competition will be sure to get all of your tales wagging. If you don’t feel like you have the stomach for the contest, why not spectate the lunacy? It’s sure to be an unforgettable event full of spectacle and fun.
