We all know that Bowden is an up and coming suburb but here’s yet another reason to fall in love with the area. A new, authentic pizza joint has just opened on Hawker Street and boy does it look amazing!
Pizza Meccanica plays to it’s strengths as a converted workshop, embracing an industrial chic vibe, complete with a corrugated copper (fully licensed) bar, marble bench tops, a wood fire pizza oven and an old-school red truck.
Owner, Stelio is a graphic designer/car enthusiast who is no stranger to the hospitality industry after working in his family’s restaurant since he was five years old. A few years ago he tried his hand at wood oven pizzas at home, soon realising he had a passion and evidently a knack for creating authentic napoletana pizzas and has since decided to combine all three his loves into the one space, and we are so glad he did.
The menu comprises of seven glorious pizzas, two AH-MAZING desserts and a range of delicious “small eats” – plus an extensive drinks list. What more could you want? It looks like the place you’d want to take a group of mates to so you can try their “feed me” menu. For $45 dollars per person you can let the chefs decide and sit back while an assortment of pizzas, small eats and desserts roll out. Also, if you’re gluten free they’ve got you covered with gluten free bases for only $4.50 extra, so nobody misses out on these beauties. For more menu stalking click here.
I know what you’re thinking, do they deliver? No not yet, they’re working on it. However, this is not the sort of food you want to eat on the couch bingeing on Netflix with your cat. This has gotta be an experience worth checking out.
