Hot Wheels toy car stands now grace the aisles of Drakes Supermarkets after the director’s Hot Wheels passion ignites an exclusive partnership.
Pssst…did you know Drake’s Supermarkets Director John-Paul Drake has a huge toy car collection?
Inspired by his love of the Hot Wheels toy car franchise, Drakes Supermarkets is now exclusively stocking dedicated Hot Wheels stands – the first of their kind in Australia.
Collectors, kids, and car lovers will be overjoyed at the convenience of browsing the detailed replicas on display. You might be tempted to grab one or two with your next grocery shop!
Hot Wheels is an American brand of scale model cars introduced by toymaker Mattel in 1968. The collection was a wild success upon its release and has since been sold in over 150 countries. There are over 20,000 different variations of Hot Wheels cars in existence, created in partnership with nearly every auto manufacturer in the world.
But these toys aren’t just for kids. Adult toy car collectors make up a huge portion of the fanbase. Hardcore collectors can expect to pay up to $175k for the rarest model: a 1969 Pink VW Beach Bomb, of which only two were ever produced.
The Hot Wheels brand is so successful that it has spawned several dozen video games, as well as comics and animated series. There is currently a live-action Hot Wheels movie in production.
Drake’s Supermarkets is the largest independent supermarket in Australia. Current CEO John-Paul Drake joined the family business in 1990, starting out as a nightfill worker pushing trollies and stacking shelves.
Hot Wheels are now available in all Drake’s stores.
