Hotel Elliot to undergo million dollar development

Port Elliot’s Hotel Elliot has been announced as the recipient of an impressive government grant, with huge developments to the accommodation including a new function room and three training kitchens.

As part of a $1.7 million investment for Port Elliot, the Strand’s iconic hotel Hotel Elliot has announced approval for its development of ‘The Hub’ which will see a huge expanse added to the popular hotel, as well as the opportunity for increased footprint in the area and the creation of up to 40 new jobs.

Construction of The Hub is anticipated to finish around May next year, with the impressive expansion including the addition of a large main function room, two extra bars, three kitchens, an additional eating area, outdoor space and under-cover front decking, complete with floor-to-ceilng bi-fold windows that will look out onto the bustling Strand.

The addition of three kitchens will see the venue expand in its ability to offer training programs for all areas of hospitality, with owner Matt Kelly keen to see the Hotel assisting young, aspiring hospitality workers in their careers, with the state-of-the-art kitchens offering the latest facilities and equipment.

Short 2-3 week courses for front and back of house staff, including specialised barista training, are anticipated to be conducted in the new space, contributing to the Hotel’s stellar reputation for its food and drink offerings.

Owner Matt, who has been at the Hotel for eight years, was excited for the Hotel’s new development to inject new life into the heart of Port Elliot, the busy Strand, offering a new venue for people to catch up for a drink, or host their next special event in the dedicated new function space. The development was made possible through the $500,000 South Australian Tourism Commission’s Tourism Industry Development Fund and forms part of a wider investment in Port Elliot, which will include the addition of a carpark, tourist information and visitor centre.

Tourism in the region has been growing year upon year, with many interstate travellers, and South Aussies touring their own backyard, paying a visit to the stunning region which sits on the picturesque Fleurieu Peninsula. The Hotel is already a popular spot with locals, with the venue’s in-house restaurant packed out each weekend, offering fresh, pub classics as well as epic food challenges including a 1KG Parmi!

The growth in tourism in the region has led to an increase in demand for more experiences, accommodation and hospitality venues in Port Elliot, which The Hub will only be too pleased to cater for, offering a family-friendly environment with incredible food.
