How to turn 19 days of annual leave into 47 days off in 2023

With some smart forward planning, you can maximise your annual leave to get more days off while keeping money in your pocket.

If you’re looking to take some holidays in 2023 it could be the perfect year to do it.

By planning ahead, you can use just 19 annual leave days and turn them into a remarkable 47 days off – more than doubling your annual leave!

So, how does it work? All you need to do is take off certain dates around some public holidays to maximise your days off.

You don’t have to wait long to reap the benefits either. Take four annual leave days between January 23rd to 25th and January 27th and you can get a total of nine days out of office.

For tennis fans you could use this time to go on a road trip or jump on a plane to Melbourne for one of the biggest sporting events in Australia, the Australian Open.

If a lazy day by the beach takes your fancy, then why not head to the Moseley Beach Club. This family-friendly club brings a touch of beaches in Europe to the Glenelg foreshore with a relaxing, yet fun casual dining experience with fresh food, yummy cocktails, day beds and sun lounges.

There’s music daily and DJs Friday to Sunday and the best part is that it is FREE!

Over the Easter break, booking four annual leave days between April 3-6 results in a 10-day break.

This could be a great time to jump in your caravan or campervan and go on that long-overdue trip to one of the many regions of South Australia.

Booking four annual leave days between April 24 and April 26-28 will give you nine days off over the ANZAC weekend while applying for leave between June 13 – June 16 will result in nine days off thanks to the Queen’s birthday long week.

And then, last but not least, some smart planning around the 2023 Christmas/New Year period can give you a 10-day break over what is arguably the best week of the year. Simply take off the 27th – 29th of December (get in early for this one to beat your colleagues).
