Ever dreamed about becoming a winemaker? Try your hand at the historic craft at Haselgrove Wines this June long weekend!
As part of their Winemaker for a Minute Experience, the fabulous team at Haselgrove Wines welcome you to tackle the art of blending and challenge your pallet! All while enjoying 360-degree uninterrupted views of McLaren Flat and beyond from their stunning cellar door.
Guests will be able to experiment with blending 3 key McLaren Vale varieties: Grenache, Shiraz and Mourvedre – all from Haselgrove’s current range – to create their own ‘signature’ blend.
“Winemaker for a Minute” is about giving wine enthusiasts the opportunity to tackle the art of wine blending and for those who enjoy a bit of friendly competition and banter, to test their palates against others to separate the wine buffs from the wannabes and ultimately determine the best GSM blend of the day” Haselgrove Wines CEO Christophe Forel explained.
Of course, you and your group won’t be thrown into the deep end, you will be guided by the Haselgrove staff as you try your luck experimenting with percentage combinations of different wines until you produce your favourite blend, which can then be bottled, labelled and then delivered to your door.
“It’s amazing the difference just a few percent of a particular varietal can make to the overall sensory characteristics of a blend and the process is therefore very educational, interesting and fun and great for corporate team-building or family and friends celebrations,” added Mr. Forel.
Initially established in 1981, Haselgrove has revamped the presentation of the brand since changing hands in 2008. And now, the prominent McLaren Vale winery has established a jaw-droppingly beautiful rooftop cellar door, making its award-winning wines available for tasting to the public.
The Haselgrove Wines Rooftop Cellar door also offers a great food menu consisting of hand- stretched pizzas and gourmet grazing platters.
The Winemaker for a Minute Experience is the perfect activity if you’re treating your parents to a day out down south, looking for a different team building day with your co-workers or maybe you wish to show up your wine conscious friend, this 90 minute adventure will no doubt keep you talking for years to come.
