Howard Vineyard’s iconic Rosé & Dumpling Festival returns this January

Howard Vineyard is answering our summer foodie festival prayers with the return of their annual Rosé & Dumpling Festival this January.

A summer weekend spent sipping on chilled rosé and feasting on delicious dumplings in the picturesque setting of the Adelaide Hills sounds like the perfect way to unwind from the holiday festivities and welcome in the New Year.

Well, what if we told you that award-winning Adelaide Hills winery, Howard Vineyard, has answered all our summer foodie festival prayers, with their fifth annual Rosé & Dumpling Festival returning in January 2024—combining live entertainment, mouth-watering food and their finest drops into the perfect chilled vibes weekend.

Happening on Saturday, January 27th and Sunday, January 28th, the always popular Rosé & Dumpling Festival at Howard Vineyard is a must-visit for Adelaide Hills locals and South Aussies who are looking for an excuse to escape the summer heat of the city and kick back with a crisp glass (or two) of rosé.

David Jolly, Howard Vineyard’s Marketing Manager, is excited to be co-hosting this annual event again in 2024.

‘Our events team is super excited to host this event again; with record attendance last year, we’re expecting another fun-filled two days in January!’ says David. ‘We’ve tweaked our outdoor set up and offering for 2024 to include: more VIP space and tickets, a VIP bar and bathroom facilities, and two main outdoor kitchens serving up the delicious festival food amongst all of the lawn action.’

‘We’ll also have a cocktail bar hosted by our friends from Threefold Distillery, a new Rose Reserved Lawn ticket option for Saturday that offers an exclusive area and access to the VIP Bar and bathrooms, and on Sunday, there’ll be a fenced-off fun Kid Zone hosted by the crew from Calm Play for Kids with lots of activities, along with free face painting.’

‘Now, all we want is a couple of perfect summer days to enjoy the festivities!’, says David.

The festival, which will be set up outside the venue cellar door, is a family-friendly event and will feature live entertainment on both Saturday and Sunday. Adelaide band The Cast, led by firecracker Chloe Castledine and known for their Adelaide Fringe show ’80s Ladies’, will bring musical hits and energetic vibes, promising a day of dancing between sips and dumplings.

To keep the groovy energy going all day long, DJ Ali, presented by Black Cherry Events, will be on the decks in between the band’s sets from 10 am, spinning hit after hit until the day’s end.

And whilst dumplings are the main feature of the festival’s menu, and there will be a variety of flavours to choose from (pork, vego and delicious prawn and chive), if dumplings and rosé just ain’t your thang (say what now?!), there’ll be other options on offer throughout the weekend festival for the whole family.

Think Korean BBQ chicken skewers, fried rice bowls and other festival faves, along with delicious cheese platters if you’re more in the mood for a graze with your bottle of vino. There’ll also be a special kids’ menu along with ice cream to keep the little ones happy, and vegetarian and vegan menu alternatives will be available for those with dietary requirements.

If you want a break from the rosé or a change of bevvy scenery, Berties Bar will serve up locally made MisMatch Beers, Lobo Ciders, soft drinks, and a selection of Howard Vineyard wines. The team from Threefold Distilling will also be on hand at the festival, offering exclusive tastings of their finest gins and making their famous cocktails for guests to enjoy.

With gates open from 10 am until 5 pm, guests will receive free bottled water on entry, which can be refilled to keep you hydrated throughout the day, as well as access to the all-important sunscreen—so no one leaves looking a little rosé themselves (yep, pun intended).

Tables, chairs and shaded areas will be set up on the winery’s lawns, but guests are also welcome to bring their own picnic rugs, ice buckets or coolers (no outside food or drink, of course!).
