Anyone who’s ever spent a full movie shifting in their seat, negotiating armrests, or counting the minutes until the credits roll – all while balancing popcorn and an oversized soft drink – will appreciate what’s just landed at HOYTS Arndale.

The northwest’s local cinema has quietly undergone a full makeover, reopening with comfort front and centre. Following a top-to-toe refurbishment, the cinema now features brand-new standard seats, powered recliners, D-BOX Motion Recliners, and luxe Daybeds. The headline addition is the arrival of single Daybeds, exclusive to Arndale and a first for HOYTS, designed for solo moviegoers who want to stretch out in privacy.

It’s a big step forward for cinemas in Adelaide, bringing premium seating options usually reserved for overseas locations into a suburban setting. Whether you’re ducking in alone, planning a low-effort date night, or committing to a three-hour blockbuster, comfort is now the main event.

HOYTS Group President and CEO Damian Keogh says the upgrade raises the bar for cinemas in South Australia.

“HOYTS Arndale has raised the standard for cinemas in the region, offering South Australian guests more choice, enhanced comfort, and the premium experience they’ve been waiting for,” he says.

If you haven’t experienced D-BOX Motion Recliners before, they’re exactly as fun as they sound, moving in sync with the on-screen action, tilting and vibrating through car chases, fight scenes and dramatic moments. Powered recliners let you ease back at the touch of a button, while the Daybeds blur the line between cinema seat and lounge room setup, ideal for settling in before the lights even dim.

The timing couldn’t be better. The refurbishment wraps just as blockbuster season kicks off, with new releases including Avatar: Fire and Ash, Anaconda, The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants, and the psychological thriller The Housemaid hitting the big screen. Add buttery popcorn, classic choc tops and Ben & Jerry’s from the candy bar, and you’ve got a solid excuse to make a proper night of it.

While the luxe seating is the immediate drawcard, the upgrade also reflects HOYTS’ continued investment in modern tech and amenities, designed to make the cinema feel like a destination again, not just a quick in-and-out.

Whether it’s a solo Daybed session, a date night that doesn’t involve fighting for armrests, or a full-body D-BOX blockbuster moment, the message is simple. Get comfy, grab a choc top, and stay until the credits roll.
