If you’re anything like me, you absolutely live for scouring the racks at your local second hand shop, waiting to come across that iconic piece that’ll be hanging off your shoulders for the next decade.
So when we found out Save the Children was moving in to Prospect Road, we had to go and check it out. First impressions: ginormous.

The shopfront itself makes an impact, but once you get inside, the rooms keep on coming. If you’re in there long enough, there’s no telling what preloved treasures you’ll find.
A stand out addition to this particular store is the vintage section you’re greeted with as soon as you’re inside. Here, there’s more of a curated feel. Think good quality pieces from brands you know and love, and nothing worn to death. Sure, it’s pricier, but certainly a lot of fun to peruse.
As you continue through the store, there’s a huge range of bric-a-brac, sorted and displayed carefully, and once you finally reach the deepest room, you’ll spot a shelf full of records through several large archways.

The staff made it a beautiful place to shop, and were thrilled that the space, formerly home to Challenge Hi-Fi Stereo, was welcoming a flash new op shop.
If you’re planning a day of hitting the thrift shops, the inner-north is now looking like an incredible pick. Start with Vinnies, RSPCA, Salvos, and (another) Save the Children on the corner of Regency and Main North Roads, then head to Savers, and finish the day with Save the Children on Prospect Road, and a bite to eat at any number of wonderful cafes in the suburb.

The new Prospect op shop will celebrate its grand opening on Saturday 9 May from 9am to 4pm, with 20 per cent off everything (excluding the vintage section) for one day only. Browse the new store, learn more about volunteering and donations, and find out about upcoming DIY workshops.
