Hurley Winter Classic Set To Ignite Fleurieu Peninsula This June

Some of Australia’s best established and up-and-coming surfers will drop in on Fleurieu Peninsula next month when the 5th Hurley Winter Classic returns from June 10-12.

Some of Australia’s best established and up-and-coming surfers will drop in on Fleurieu Peninsula next month when the 5th Hurley Winter Classic returns from June 10-12.
The weekend-long contest – the most prestigious of its kind on the South Australian surfing calendar – has confirmed a stellar lineup of SA surfers including Dion Atkinson and Teale Vanner as well as a host of interstate competitors including Jesse Adam, Blake Levett and Darcy Crump.
Previous winners of the event include Victor Harbor local Khai Adams (2016), former CT pro Dion Atkinson (2015), Middleton surfer Ellie Francis (2014) and Coolangatta shredder John Cummings(2014).
“With so many surf comps happening in the summer months, it’s awesome to have a winter contest that challenges some of Australia’s best surfers to take on our wild Southern Ocean swells,” said Will Mills, Hurley Surf Australia.
“The waves during the event have traditionally been really solid and have helped produce some standout performances, and we’re confident we’ll see plenty of great surfing again during this year’s contest.”
Pending surf conditions, the event will be held at Waitpinga/Parsons Beach on either Saturday or Sunday, with heats kicking off at 8am, and finals rounding out competition between 2pm and 3pm.
