HWY to host winter solstice dark party with craft beer & boozy donuts

The Highway are throwing an epic celebration of all things dark including South Australian craft beer, wine, food and boozy donuts.

The winter solstice is coming, and to celebrate the darkest weekend of the year, The Highway is teaming up with some South Aussie icons for their latest event, Darkageddon!

On Saturday 19 June the iconic pub renowned for their witty Anzac Highway signage will host a massive party, featuring the darkest food and drink you can imagine on theme with the solstice.

Think everything warm and wintery, with dark craft beers from breweries across our great state including Mismatch, Little Bang, Pirate Life, Big Shed Brewing and of course, our beloved Coopers.

If beer isn’t quite your speed, The Highway has you covered, with a selection of wintery reds and fortified’s to warm your soul on offer from SA classics including D’Arenberg, Unico Zelo, Alpha Box and Dice.

The biggest draw card of the event of all things dark and wintery will be the collaboration with two of SA’s most iconic bakeries, Kytons and Port Elliott Bakery, that The Highway have teamed up with to create two delicious boozy donuts.

Kytons will be serving up dark chocolate stout donuts, with Port Elliott bakery bringing a touch of class with their espresso martini donut, in what’s bound to be an irresis-dough-ble day.

The day will see stacks of other enticing bites and bubbles including slow cooked brisket sliders, hot wings, Melba’s chocolates, and even dark themed cocktails such as Baileys and Espresso martinis on the menu.

The event runs from 12:00pm to 4:00pm, and tickets to the event are priced at $50 which includes tastings, food, and product available for purchase if you want a little more.
