Ice cream and wine pairing now available at Hahndorf Hill Winery

Get the best of both worlds with this ice cream + wine tasting experience, which is a first for Hahndorf Hill Winery.

We can confirm that wine and ice cream is an amazing combo, and Hahndorf Hill Winery agrees with us!

The cellar door has recently launched its new tasting experience, which combines their boutique wines with locally-made ice cream.

Hahndorf Hill Winery is calling this their first pairing of this kind the ‘ultimate Aussie chilled-out experience.’

There are two tasting experiences available. The first is the Hahndorf Hill Winery Rose 2020 matched to Davidson’s Plum ice cream garnished with native Sunrise lime slices, while the second is Blueblood Blaufrankisch 2018 (an Austrian-variety red wine) matched to Wattleseed ice cream garnished with Australian-grown blueberries.

“Yes, matching wine to ice cream is quite a unique taste experience, but these days people are being daring enough to match wine to just about anything. Gone are the days when it was only cheese that you were supposed to pair with wine at a cellar door,” shares Hahndorf Hill Winery co-owner Marc Dobson.

This unique tasting experience comes after their famous CocoVino tasting received such rave reviews.

“Having successfully developed a chocolate and wine matching experience based on terroir, we got to thinking what we could do next – and ice cream popped into our head! It works beautifully if you have the right ice cream matched to the right wine,” Marc says.

“Guests can expect to have their taste buds titillated with a delicious synthesis of flavours and textures, and to have the pleasure of relaxing in our glass-enclosed balcony overlooking the vineyard, where they can watch the clouds drift by or the magpies frolic above the vines.”

If someone can manage to create a successful ice cream and wine pairing experience, it’s definitely the team at Hahndorf Hill Winery.

The ice cream + wine pairing experience costs $25 per person and will be available all throughout the year.

Bookings are essential, so check out their website for more information.

You can find Hahndorf Hill Winery at 38 Pain Road, Hahndorf.
