Iconic Anlaby Station to hold new artisan market

Sparkling Red Markets are back with another incredible artisan market showcasing SA wares, this time in a stunning location just outside the Barossa.

Nestled perfectly between the world-famous wine regions of the Barossa and Clare Valley, Anlaby Station is the picturesque 19th-century sheep station that now serves as a Bed & Breakfast and destination wedding and event venue.

Relatively unknown to the wider Adelaide community, Anlaby Station is the oldest merino stud in South Australia, dating back to 1839.

On Sunday June 19th, artisans from across the state will gather in the barn of this iconic property to showcase their wares. From clothing and jewellery to homewares and art, the variety of local and handmade goods on offer at the Anlaby Market will be sure to impress and truly showcase the very best of South Australian goods.

Market organisers Jayne and Rachael from Sparkling Red Markets are known for holding their markets in unique and wonderful locations with previous settings including Pennington Gardens Market, Meander Market on Melbourne Street and Adelaide Gaol.

This new location seemed like a no-brainer for Jayne when searching for the next market spot.

“I went for a visit one day searching for an undercover venue and absolutely fell in love with the place,” she says.

“The history is amazing and such an unknown jewel of South Australia. Previous markets in the area have been very successful over the summer months so it made sense to continue something into the Winter months, connecting both Adelaide metropolitan and country vendors.”

The day will be soundtracked by talented Adelaide musician Jordan D’Sena who will be playing his signature acoustics sounds as you meander through the stalls. As always, a great selection of food will be available with food and wine from the Anlaby kitchen and The Bearded Cook preparing his delicious vegetarian and vegan delights.

A stay at Anlaby is a truly unique experience offering not only a cosy place to stay but the chance to immerse yourself in the rich history of the property. Choose from either Manor House; the now converted two-storey building that once served as the station manager’s office, or the Elegant Coachman’s Cottage; the beautifully restored lodging that once housed the properties head gardener.

The perfect location for a peaceful getaway, Anlaby is just 13kms from the town of Kapunda and a short drive to both the Barossa and Clare Valley each having countless wineries and world-class food on offer.

So, pop this one in your diaries and immerse yourself in this fabulous venue and enjoy a day out at Anlaby Market. And a side note – Dogs are welcome! (Just please bring a lead and a poop bag!).

Anlaby Market will take place on Sunday 19 June 2022. For more information, visit the Facebook.

Anlaby Station is located at 829 Anlaby Road, Hamilton (via Kapunda), SA, 5373.
