Iconic Market Plaza store to close its doors after 33 years

A popular whole foods favourite at Adelaide’s Market Plaza has called it a day after three decades.

Beloved fixture of the Adelaide Market Plaza, Whole + Some, previously known as Goodies + Grains will close after a remarkable 33 years in operation.

The store will shut for the last time on Thursday, March 28, but will still be operating as normal on be open on Friday’s from 9am to 5pm and Saturday’s from 8am to 1pm until close.

Chris Martin, co-founder and owner of the store made the announcement on social media, thanking the community for all the support.

“It is with a heavy heart I am letting you know that after 33 years of trading, I have made the difficult decison to close Whole + Some.

“We will be holding a closing down sale over the coming weeks, with our last day of trading being Thursday 28 March.

“Thank you for all your years of support and for being part of our community. Hoping to see you over the coming weeks.”

Renowned for its diverse array of wholefood and health food options, the store had long been cherished by market-goers. But it was more than just a grab and go, the Whole + Some team offered an array of yummy recipes, including cauliflower tikka masala, moroccan chickpea and sweet potato salad and a vegan mango and passionfruit smoothie.

It’s just one of the many iconic Adelaide go-to’s that have called it a day, earlier this month beloved Glenelg restaurant Cardone’s shut their doors after pointing to a mix of pandemic aftereffects, rising costs, and unpredictable business as the main culprits.
