For ten consecutive years, one Adelaide nightclub dominated the night life scene on the corner of North and West Terrace. During their prime, the HQ Complex had more than 2500 people walking through their doors every week, with a line-up featuring some of the worlds biggest acts.
Now, 20 years after HQ first opened their doors, the Hindley Street Music Hall is bringing back the nightclub for one night only next year, on August 8. The original DJs and emcees will be returning from 9pm and partying so early into Sunday, you’ll probably see runners on their early morning grind on the trip home.
Keep your eye out on socials for the announcement of two DJs who are back to bring the beats to the 20 year reunion, hyping the crowd up with the best mixes. Rumour has it, you’ll likely recognise the familiar faces to stand behind the decks of HQ one last time.

The HQ Complex has been officially closed for five years, soon after they made the move onto Hindley Street in 2017 where the competition increased. The new venue, catered for much larger and versatile crowds, offering a capacity of 2200 punters over not two but three floors. Unfortunately, this is what ultimately led to a major decline in patrons entering the once bustling building and creating financial issues, causing closure.
But the legacy still echos through a generation of party-goers, creating legendary memories and a lasting impact upon those who wondered through security and into the pulsing strobe lights. HQ Saturdays dominated the national scene, winning the ITM Best Club Night award ten years in a row.
The HQ reunion will be held in its past venue, which is now known as the popular Hindley Street Music Hall, the host to major events and live music in Adelaide’s CBD. The hall has been had multiple major national and international artist such as Vance Joy, Peking Duk, Counting Crows and more.
This rare event is set to sell out, so don’t miss your chance to be transported back to HQ Saturdays for the ultimate dance party.
