The renowned Alma Tavern, long associated with Adelaide Crows stars Mark Ricciuto, Taylor Walker, and Rory Sloane, has been sold to Duxton Pubs.
This marks a significant shift in Adelaide’s hospitality landscape, with the iconic Norwood pub transitioning to new management.
The trio, part of the pub’s ownership alongside Peter Hurley, has been instrumental in the Alma’s success, fostering its strong community ties.
The acquisition by Duxton Pubs, a growing force in Adelaide’s hotel scene, signals further developments for the Alma Tavern.
Duxton, founded in 2020 by Brett Matthews, Martin Palmer, and Ed Peter, has quickly expanded its portfolio, now boasting 25 venues, including The Cremorne, Royal Oak Hotel, and Little Bang Brewery.
Joanna Chronis, COO of Duxton Hospitality Services, shared her enthusiasm for the new venture.

Under Duxton’s stewardship, the Alma is set to receive further upgrades, building upon its recent renovations like the retractable beer garden roof and revamped bar area.
“Our vision for the Alma is to maintain its charm while injecting our unique flair for modern hospitality. We see it as an extension of the vibrant Eastern suburbs community,” added Chronis.
The trio of hoteliers now own over 20 venues across the State, including The Cremorne (Unley), the Old Noarlunga Hotel, and regionally The Royal Oak (Penola) and the Bushman’s Arms (Naracoorte).
Last year, Duxton acquired Stepney-based Little Bang Brewing Company which saw the company’s highly regarded beers become widely available across the State, and in 2021, the group acquired the Saracens Head.
The trio also own The Lion Hotel, a highly popular pub in the heart of North Adelaide renowned for its classy interior and delicious food.
