Sucre Patisserie in St Morris, a popular spot for French desserts, is set to close its doors at 397 Magill Road on May 25, 2024. Head Patissier Keva announced the closure on social media, noting that she’s taking a break to welcome a new addition to her family in July.
However, fans of Sucre Patisserie need not worry too much, as Keva plans to reopen in a new location in Rostrevor in mid-2025.
For over five years, Sucre Patisserie has been known for its expertly crafted cakes, tarts, and eclairs. Until it closes, the patisserie will host weekly “open days,” which will be announced on its social media and Google listing. It will continue to take orders online and cater to custom cake requests for special events during this period.
“I will be taking some time off to prepare for the arrival of our baby in July and expect to be back in business mid 2025, operating out of a different location in Rostrevor” Keva said.
Adelaide’s dining scene has taken multiple hits in 2024, with continuous closures rocking the hospitality sector. While some are linked to long standing industry icons retiring or taking time away from the business for personal reasons, many more are linked to growing expenses and a tough economic climate.
The cascading announcements serve as a stark reminder that small businesses need our ongoing support. So if you’re thinking of grabbing a meal or coffee, throw your money behind your favourite venues, because every dollar counts.
Each closure affects not just the local economy but also the cultural vibe of the community. Supporting local businesses is more crucial than ever; it helps keep the unique local flavors alive and supports the community.
As Sucre Patisserie prepares for its transformation, Keva looks forward to reconnecting with her customers in 2025 in the new Rostrevor location.
